The CAROLINE C. STAMMERS Scholarship for helping professions
When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people. - Abraham Joshua Heschel
The Caroline C. Stammers Scholarship for Helping Professions is a merit and financial need based scholarship inspired by Patrick Henry High School teacher Caroline C. Stammers. Ms. Stammers was an English teacher at Patrick Henry High School (now Camden High School) from 1994 - 2023. Ms. Stammers served as the English department chair. She also played a significant role in helping students successfully complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) program through coordinating the core elements of the IB Diploma program including the Theory of Knowledge course, the Extended Essay, and the Creativity, Activity and Service Program. Ms. Stammers also coached the school's Urban Debate League team. For three decades, Ms. Stammers' service to the Patrick Henry community embodied the important combination of intelligence and kindness needed to be a successful helping professional.
Applicants to the Caroline C. Stammers Scholarship for Helping Professionals are self-nominated. One applicant annually will be recognized with a $2000 scholarship award (split into two $1000 payments) from the John Schmit and Megan Foret Foundation for their pursuit of a post-secondary education.
